Girls in the SISTERHOOD:

I have a few things I want you to know about!

• The early bird discount for our "Never the Same" missions trip will expire at the end of January, so you need to get your application in! We're going to Antigua, Guatemala June 28-July 11, 2010. And we always need leaders. So if one of your parents wants to come, great! You can download the student application AND the leader application at: neverthesamemissions.com

• A precious woman in my Sunday school class has offered to purchase a one-year subscription to SUSIE Magazine for a teen girl who can't afford it. If this is you, send me your name and complete mailing address at: susie@susiemag.com and label it: I NEED THE MAG. (Please only do this if you really can't afford the subscription. If you can afford it but just don't want to spend the money, this isn't for you.)

• You have an entire year to save up for our SUSIE Magazine Mom/Daughter Cruise. It's Feb. 17-21, 2011. We'll depart from Miami and hit two ports: Key West, FL and Cozumel, Mexico (both known for swimming with the dolphins). I'll give more information on this later. But please talk to your mom, grandma, aunt and any other fun females you want to bring on this amazing cruise!

Are you reading the Bible?
Are you praying?
What's God doing in your life?

I love you and want to know!

Susie Shellenberger

  1. Hey Susie,
Do you have anymore info on the mother/daughter cruise? I would love to go, but I'll be in my first year of college, so it might be nice to start budgetting now, so how much (approx)?

  2. Hi, Missy!
I can't tell you how much it will cost you, because that depends on which size cabin you choose, and if you want a cabin with a window, or if you want a cabin with a balcony, etc.

All these things make the price different. About the second week of Feb., you'll be able to call 1-800-247-1899 (Inspiration Cruises--the organization who's putting it together for us), and they'll be able to give you a list of the different pricing options.

What a FUN break this would be for you from college!

  3. Hey Susie!

Here's a verse that I've been meditating on recently from my quiet time.

"Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh & my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:25-26

    I hope you're having a blessed day! :)

  8. Hey Susie!

About a week ago my teacher played a video in Bible class of a person (kind of famous in a way but not like a Hollywood star) who was talking about how they have everything they could ever want yet still feel like there's something more out there. And this person sounded really sincere.

Immediately, I felt...I don't know, led to do something about it. Within minutes after watching the video, I found myself wanting to write him a letter.

I've thought about it everyday since then, and last night I opened up my Bible to Proverbs 10:3 - "The LORD will not let the godly go hungry, but he refuses to satisfy the craving of the wicked." I thought this applied SO much to the situation - without Jesus, your emptiness will never be filled.

Anyway, I wanted your opinion on this, Susie.

    God Bless,
    ~~Meg ♥♥♥

  9. I have been reading bits of the Bible from my youth walk devotion book and a reading plan from church and a Bible Study I'm doing.

I've decided to start praying every day through my journal. I know its important to pray so I want to pray more, to get closer to Christ and to learn to hear his voice.

God's teaching me to trust him; I'm graduating this year and wondering about what to do next. He is also showing me that circumstances might not be wonderful but I still need to praise him and look for ways to enjoy myself.

    thanks for the mag :)

  12. Hi Susie!

There's a book series I like that I wanted to reccomend to you and anyone else interested.

It's called the Diary of a Teenage Girl series by Melody Carlson.

It's sort of several different series because there are several different characters with diaries, but my favorite is the first ones, about a girl named Caitlin O'Conner

All of the diaries are a really great series about finding God, and a lot of the struggles teenage girls have at one point or another, and how they learn to rely on God to help them.

  13. *Sunrise to sunset I'll never forget your love for me,from sunset to sunrise I will lift my eyes to see your glory *
I have been feeling the power of prayer, on Sunday they allowed me a pass to go to church. The sermon was about submission to Christ, the service refreshed my heart & soul. I feel the strength of the Lord working through me as I regain my own strength each day.

  15. Recently in my devotions (PURE by Rebecca St. James) there was one on BEING WITH God. Basking in His glory and radiance for a day. Taking the time to pray, praise, worship, read the Bible, journaling, and even napping. Just BEING WITH GOD.

I thought this was an interesting concept. I'd like to give it a try some time soon. Just to be still and KNOW that He is God. No matter what is happening in the nation, world or my life. I can rest in knowing that God is alive and well, and He is setting Himself up to be glorified. Right?

Thank you for putting out susiemagazine!

  16. Hey Susie!
I have had the honor to go on these trips for the past 2 years! I am most unfortunately not going this year(but i wish!) my parents said no for it this year :((( but, God apparently has plans for me here in America! But I seriously cried myself to sleep the other night. Those trips were seriously the best 4 weeks of my ENTIRE life. It was the only time of year where I could be surrounded by people who really worshiped Him and praised Him with all that they were and i loved that! I know that there are less Teams and less people this year but thats okay because there will be more bonding! I am praying for everyone going and for my friends (who I consider my family from my previous Teams) who are going again! I know 2 people who this will be their 4th year in a row! and THAT is fantastic! they were on the same Team their first year and they are both still going!
Obie wants me to go to Ecuador next year so i am praying about that :)
oh dear! i want to go soooooo badd!!!! but, have fun and i love you Susie! thank you for all that you do!
