Girls in the Sisterhood:

Here's what I'm reading in The Message. Check it out:

"It seems to me that God has put us who bear his Message
on stage in a theater
in which no one wants to buy a ticket.
We're something
everyone
stands around and stares at
like an accident in the street" (1 Corinthians 4:9).

* * *

How does that hit you?
Know this: When you truly start to live
in radical obedience
to the Lordship of Jesus Christ
you'll be made fun of.

And sometimes you'll even be made fun of
from your Christian friends!
We expect it from the world . . .
but it hurts even more when it comes
from the Body of Christ.

So as you begin preparation to head back to school,
jobs,
whatever . . .
go into it with the knowledge
that you're seen
as an "accident in the street."

Be prepared to be gawked at.
That's how they treated Christ.

By the power of His Spirit within you,
you CAN remain strong!

I love you!

  1. Thank you so much for that Susie!! I'm starting a Christian school in the fall, and I'm having to leave my best friend along with many other good friends behind. None of them understand why I'm making this choice, so this is exactly how I feel.
Thanks again Susie, you truly touch all of our lives!!

I go to a Christian school, but there are still kids there that you could never tell are Christians by the way they live. I'm just glad that I have good friends!

  6. Ok wow! It is so cool to hear about other home-schoolers! I am home-schooled too! Just a thought, maybe when we get the sisterhood up we should start different spots for people to talk about school. Like one for private school, public school, home-school, ect. Just a thought!

  10. When I subscribed to the magazine online it gave me a confirmation code. I was wondering, does anyone know what that's for? is it for the sisterhood that's starting in September?

  11. Susie - thanks for a wonderful presentation of Revelation the other night. My wife and I will be praying for you this week as you continue speaking.

  12. Michelle, i always remember that, but it's still hard in the midst of all this fear. thanks for you support.
that would be awesome to have school in pjs :)
and that's probably what the code is for, but i would ask susie just to be sure :)

    thanks again

  14. I'm not sure, Erin. did you subscribe online?

    Meg,
I know it's hard when you have to leave all your friends behind, but trust in God that he will bring you new friends and provide a way to keep in touch with your old friends. Have you tried explaining to them why you're changing schools?
I will be praying for you.

  16. THERE ARE OTHER HOMESCHOOLERS!!! lol Where I live there are not a lot of homeschoolers so when I meet one its like a homeschooler yay!! :d
    Meg,
God will totally provide especially if you feel that's where he want's you to be. I don't really have to many close friends in my town but I have a lot at my church but it's 45 minutes away. God will provide friends he did for me and I know he will for you!! Oh and I will be praying for you to!!!
Also KK I like that idea for when the sisterhood starts! :D And also that's cool so many of us homeschool and that the others don't think we are weird!!! lol
YOu guy's are lucky though. . . my mom doesn't really let me do school in my p.j.s!!!

  17. Sense we are talking kinda about prayer I have a tiny prayer request. I homeschool and I am not exactly the smartest kid on the block. I am still doing school and I only have a month and a half to finish or else all of my work that I did was useless because I won't get the credits I need. If you could please pray I finish and that as odd as this sounds I will try to enjoy homeschooling!!! It works for some people but for some reason it's been hard for me. This year was my 6th year homeschooling and each year I have had to either do summer school or do extra work at the beginning of the new year. Thanks guy's! Sorry this is kinda long!!! :D

  19. hey girls!
I was wondering if you could pray for me in this thing I'm going through?
I have a friend who I was pretty good friends with for a couple of years, but know we aren't that good of friends now because she has done some things and her mom has said some things about my family that I'm really mad about. we still talk and all, but I don't know if I should confront her or just let God work it out. I know this is kinda confusing but please just try to pray for my situation and that God will give me wisdom as to what to do.
    Thanks so much. :)

  20. Now I feel like the odd one out for being in a public school. ;)

And girls, I will be praying for you! I know times can seem to be just so hard. But we have to go through it with God, because you know with Him things will get better.

  24. Grace, Michelle, and Abigail i will be praying for you all!!!! And thanks guys for including me in your prayers! :) Things have been better lately, and I am finding comfort in God's word.

    Michelle,
I tried to explain to my best friend why I'm leaving, but considering she isn't a Christian, it was hard, because she doesn't understand. I told her it was to strengthen my faith, but she just doesn't understand what Christianity means. That it is not a religion, but more like a way of life. I am constatnly praying for her to come to Jesus, but so far, no luck.

Anyway, thank you all for understanding!!! I just love the fact how even though we don't know each other, we still kind of do in a different sense. I can't wait for the Sisterhood to be ready so that we can all talk even more!! :)

And to anonymous who feels like the odd one out for going to public school, I have gone to public school every year up until now. Trust me you're not the only one. :)

    Thanks guys!!!

    ~~Meg

  25. Thanks guy's for all the prayer!! It is appreciated!! Also I will be praying for the everyone else to! I can't wait for the sisterhood to come out but in a way we have already started it!!! :D
Hey Michelle, just continue to trust God with your situation. I had a friend that I thought we would be in contact forever but God didn't want it that way and I havn't talked to her in over a year. I have really struggled with that but I am comforted by remembering that God takes away sometimes but he also gives back!! I will be praying for you and I hope it works out for the better!!!

  30. Hi, Girls!

Someone asked about a membership code. Keep it! That's for the online global sisterhood that will launch in September. If you don't have one yet, you'll get one when it launches. Then when you go to the WEb site, you'll enter that code and it will allow you access INSIDE the sisterhood! You'll get some video devotional thoughts from me, a column from Obie-Dog, more articles, and just tons of stuff--and best of all you'll get support from your online sisses who also get SUSIE Mag and want to stand with you, hold your hand and pray with you through the tough days! YAHOO!

    We love you!

  31. Susie,

Scince Brio Mag shifted to Kor Minestries, it just has not been the same. I felt as though I knew you and the Brio staff personaly, and I don't feel the same about Kor minestries. Besides that it is an online magazine run by guys. How could they know what girls go through? So, as I am very disapointent that Brio shut down, I am considering getting your new magazine, but I'm confused. Is yours an online magazine, published?

Thanks for your many years of service, Susie!

  32. I can't wait for the Sisterhood to be up Susie!! It is going to be incredible!

    G,
I know you're probably wanting Susie to answer, but SusieMag is a published magazine that ships to your house! There is also a website with articles on it (www.susiemagazine.com), and in September, there will be an online Sisterhood where christian girls can interact!

    Hope this helps! :)

  33. Hey *-G-*,
I also used to get Brio Magazine and I was very said that Focus on the Family stopped publishing it. But I checked out the the online (www.susiemagazine.com) and it's great!! I also signed up to get the published magazine and I can't wait to get it! You should really consider getting the magazine. You will love it! I know I will!

    And Susie,
Don't worry I'm already planning on telling all my friends about it, and I'm sure everyone else will to. Right girls?

  39. Michelle,

Not much is new really, but I think God is working inside of me. Some of my worries have gone away, and I feel much better than I have the past few days. I had a sleepover last night with her and another great friend, and I had a blast. Even though I won't be going to school with them, I think that we are going to be just as great of friends.
    Thanks for caring! :)

How is your situation coming along, Michelle? I have been praying for you!

  43. Hi, Girls!

Ha! I LOVE the way you interact with each other! It makes me grin from ear to ear. Girls taking care of each other . . . praying for one another. THIS is how the global sisterhood will be. I LOVE IT!

Yes, SUSIE Magazine is a printed, monthly magazine. But we also have Web support, which means you can access some of the articles online.

Someone asked when she'd get her first issue if she subscribed in June. If you subscribed toward the end of June, you were too late to start with July and will start with August. But if you have any questions, please call: 1-888-81-SUSIE and they can look up your subscription and tell you for sure.

And thanks to all of you who are telling your friends! You rock!

    I love you, Girls!

I have been praying that I can make friends at my new school, and tonight at volleyball practice, I met a couple girls, one who will be going to school with me, and we are already talking like we are best friends!! I am just so grateful that God led me to these girls; He always reveals Himself to me in amazing ways!!

Sorry, I just had to share that, because I am overjoyed. And you're right G, this is an amazing environment! It feels great to know that there are other Christian girls out there who care!! :) Thanks guys!

    Kay

    ReplyDelete
  79. Michelle:
I know! People assume that because someone's homeschooled, they don't have any friends. I use to attend a private school, and I have more friends now (homeschooling) than I did at school! And my mom wont let us do school in PJs...Something about "sloppy dress causing sloppy work"...unless we're sick, of course...Yes, I do school even when I'm sick, and in the summer...heavy sigh lol It's kinda funny: I never really thought about any of the girls posting on the blog homeschooled...weird...I was kinda surprised!
Love you, sisses in Christ! May your summer be blessed!

    "Kay"

    ReplyDelete
  80. That's pretty much what my mom say's to kay! She say's that it will make me lazy! lol It probably would but at leas I would be comfy!! :D
I think you can make friends when you are homeschooled but you have to seek things to do to find them like going to a coop or for me playing on a school bball team!! I think it is really cool how many of us homeschool. It's cool. :D
Love you sisters in Christ! ANd Kay I hope you have a good blessed rest of the summer to!!
    abby

    ReplyDelete
  81. Abby:
I have tried to do school in my PJs, I was comfy, but i didnt do well...oh well! I also found that I became more outgoing when I started homeschooling! My (private) school was kinda cliqueish...It's funny, at first you couldn't get me to talk-even my friend-now, you can't get me to shut up! lol
I think that KK from IA has a great idea!! that way, we have more a chance to "talk" to other homeschooled girls!
One more thing, could you girls pray for me? I'm really trying to strengthen my relationship with Christ...Could you pray that I will? I know, it's kind of a weird request...

    Kay...or Kaelynne

  82. I will pray for you, Grace

  83. For me I think I have alway's been outgoing. ONE thing for me though, is when you first meet me I will be kinda shy and not to noisy. .. when you truly get to know me though I am pretty loud sometimes!! lol I guess being 50% Italian might be part of that! :D

    Kay,
That is totally not a weird request!! I think it's great that you want to strengthen you relashionship with God!! I will be praying for you and know that you are not alone in trying to alway's grow in our relashionships with God!
    Love you guys!!
