Girls in the Sisterhood!

Have you been watching all the stuff about Michael Jackson on the news? It has me thinking about some things I want to share:

—We know his Thriller album went platinum 100 times. (That means it sold 100 million copies worldwide. When a record goes gold, it has sold over 500,000 copies. That's good, but it's not great . . . like platinum.)

Because I've always thought gold was great, I did some research on platinum and have discovered that platinum is waaaay better than gold!

Platinum is one of the most precious metals known to man. It's more precious than silver, and it's rarer than gold!

• King Louis XV of 18th century France, declared that platinum was the only metal fit for a king. And now . . . a thousand years later, platinum is still considered the most exclusive of all jewelry metals.

Platinum is rare; 30 times rarer than gold! And it's found in very few places throughout the world.

Platinum is really tough to mine. Get this: It's a difficult and extremely time-consuming process. In fact, 10 tons of ore have to be mined and processed to get one single ounce of finished platinum!

WOW.

So here's what I'm thinking: I don't want to settle for a gold relationship with Jesus Christ. Many folks have gold. Though it's beautiful and worth some money, imagine how richer their lives would be if they had platinum instead.

Let's challenge ourselves to GO PLATINUM in our relationship with Christ. How do we GET a platinum relationship with Him? It may be a difficult and time-consuming process.

I have a few ideas, but I'd like to hear what you're thinking first. After hearing from you, I'll post how I believe we can GO PLATINUM with Christ!

Loving you!

  3. I've heard that platinum is more valuable than gold.

Maybe getting a platinum relationship could mean being closer to Him than never before.
Say we pray every day, but it's just the same thing, over and over. We could start putting more of our heart in our prayers, and we could remember to pray at all times, not just when we need something.
We could read our Bible with a real hunger for learning, instead of just because we have to.
We could really and truly let God be seen in our lives, instead of just saying "Yeah, I'm a Christian" then living like everyone else.

  5. 8-) Wow, thats great, Ashley and Erin! Do you ever feel that Susie writes stuff, meant especially for yourself? I almost always do!

Kay (Did you know that that is not my real name?)

  6. Yeah, I totally agree with Ashley M.

That's good food for thought, Susie! I didn't know those things about Platinum. I definitely want a 'Platinum' relationship with Him. But I think that it will also cost a lot. Much more than we may feel comfortable with at first. But, even though it is so costly, it's worth the price.

Can't wait to hear what you have to say. God bless!

  7. Susie, I am a huge fan (but a tad bit older then most fans, I'm sure).

I would say the ONLY way to develop a relationship with God is to become obsessed with Him! Sing to Him constantly, pray to Him continually, read His WORD non-stop! It reminds me of losing weight - no short-cuts - takes time, but it's SOOOOO worth it!

  8. I'm kind of expanding on what Ashley said;
Most of us memorize Bible verses, but we don't really think about what they're saying and what they mean in our lives. I think that the next time we memorize something, we should really try to make it personal for us and strive to figure out what it really means.
Another thing; sometimes when I pray, I get distracted, so I've started writing my prayers down in a journal. It really helps keep me focused!

P.S. Kay, you said that's not your real name. What is it, then? :)

  9. I think that maybe having a platinum relationship with God versus a gold relationship is really similar to what I've been thinking a lot about lately.

Having a platinum relationship to me would be living like everywhere I go is my mission field. Although I was really down about not going on a missions trip this year, God's showing me that my mission field is right where I'm at. Instead of being in Peru, I'm painting old ladies nails and playing games with people who need to know that they are cared for in a hospital. Your mission field could be your home, with a group of friends, your church, with the homeless, or in another country. We should be pure in mind, body, and heart so that we can effectivley show God's love on the mission field that God has laid before us every single day! We can spread the great commission and become closer to our Lord by seeking Him wherever we are.

    Your sis in Christ, Kasey

  10. P.S. Erin, I write down my prayers too! I keep a journal specifically for my prayers because It really helps me stay on track in prayer. I think its a great way to tell God everything and share moments wit Him. I'm excited to see that someone else does that too :) ~Kasey

  11. I've never tried that-writing my prayers down...I should try doing that! Another thing I do to stay focused on God and His plans: I write letters to my future husband sometimes and I try to find devotionals by teen authors (e.g. Melody Carlson...)
BTW, to Erin: My real name is Kaelynne. I dont really like to use my real name on the internet, it kinda makes me nervous sometimes...I know, I'm weird! 8-)

  12. Kasey; I love what you said about how to have a platinum relationship with Christ! That is hard, but important!
Kay (or Kaelynne); I totally understand! But that's a cool name!

  14. OH I LOVE THOSE!!! :D
I've read them a couple times, but only the ones where she's in highschool. I haven't read the college ones yet.

  15. Susie,
I love that! I would say my relationship with God is somewhere between silver and gold -- sometimes I'm on fire for Him, and other times it's hard to find Him in my life.
I agree with Theresa: for me to have a platinum relationship with God, I would have to be totally obsessed with Him.
I have the "Revolve" New Testament Biblezine and I love it! I've read almost the whole New Testament and have underlined the verses that have really jumped out at me. I also have your book, "Girl Talk with God" and it's shown me that God isn't some weird old man in Heaven; He's real and living and desires a PLATINUM relationship with me!

  20. I agree with you, Thresea! We must be truly obsessed with Jesus! Or as I would say: "We must be fools for Christ!!" I like to call myself a fool for Christ! 8-P
